IVO BYSTŘIČAN
Ivo Bystřičan is a documentary film director living in Kolín, which we all know to be kind of flat and thus lacks a visible horizon. No wonder he is looking for new perspectives and is eager for details hiding phenomena. He deals with social issues, whatever society might mean. He studied documentary filmmaking at FAMU in Prague and sociology at FSS MU in Brno. Ivo made films such as Byeway, My Latest 150,000 Cigarettes, and Invisible Landscapes, which won at AFO 58. He created the documentary series Czechs on Drugs, Industrie, and History of Disobedience for the Czech television. He works as a film dramaturg, screenwriter, independent producer, podcast creator, and lecturer. His podcast documentary series Základka won the Golden Semicolon 2023.
