Kleber Mendonça Filho: About museum
You may remember the Brazilian film Bacurau, which we presented in last year’s official selection. This year, the champion of the Pernambuco region will present you with four short films, in a section whose title refers a bit to Bacurau. The protagonists of this film offer two antagonists a look at their village museum. The antagonists arrogantly reject the offer (in their mind there is nothing of interest in such museum) and pay the price. If they had visited the museum, they would find that the protagonists are far from being as defenceless and peaceful as they seem to the outside world. And so we likened Kleber’s program to a museum such that the audience can gain insight into his cinematography in a slightly different way then through his celebrated feature films, in the way that the audience can see the range this director can offer.
