Fire of Love
USA | 2022 | 93 min | director Sara Dosa | DoP Pablo Alvarez | screenplay Shane Boris, Erin Casper, Sara Dosa
Katia and Maurice Krafft had two passions in life - each other and volcanoes. Him straightforward and bold, her calm and cautious, but always together. For two decades, these volcanologists have been seduced by the beauty and danger of the bubbling giants and have saved tens of thousands of lives in their quest for knowledge. Their authentic footage of volcanoes, shot from breathtakingly close range on 16mm film, has now been brought to life in an innovative, creative treatment by director Sara Dosa. Reminiscent of Wes Anderson’s aesthetic, the Sundance hit is not only about erupting volcanoes but also about the dynamics of a unique relationship between two peculiar scientists.
