Lucia Zavarčíková

Lucia Zavarčíková comes from Bratislava. From 2013 to 2016, she studied filmmaking, focusing on cinematography at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where she received her BA degree. Later, in 2020, she received her MFA in Cinematography from AFI Conservatory in Los Angeles. After graduating, she made the short film APART, TOGETHER (“Best Live Action Short Film” at the GSI BAFTA, 2021), distributed on Amazon Prime Video’s streaming service. Among others, she made the feature documentary STORY OF SALES (2017), a short film for SESAME STREET, and the feature film ONLY THE GOOD SURVIVE, which premiered at SXSW 2023. She has worked for Amazon Music, Maison Kitsune, Kaufland, and MTV. She is working on the stop-motion film 9 MILLION COLORS in Prague and lives alternately in Bratislava and Los Angeles. In 2022, she represented the Association of Slovak Cinematographers (ASK) at the International Cinematographers Conference at the ASC in Los Angeles and a few months later, was elected President of ASK. Lucia is a BAFTA member represented by the Agency for the Performing Arts (APA) in the USA.
