Tomáš Hrůza
Tomáš Hrůza comes from Klatovy. He lives alternately in Prague and the village of Miřenice in southwest Bohemia. He studied photography at the Faculty of Art and Design at the University of Economics in Ústí nad Labem. He is one of the founders of the Fotograf 07 platform and the independent cultural signpost ArtMap. With Jiří Zemánek, he organizes a programme titled “Pilgrim – Wandering University of Nature,” focusing on revising the relationship between man and nature. He is also a member of the music and art group Střešovická Kramle, with roots in electronic music and underground. He has had solo exhibitions in many Czech galleries, such as at the Výhybka Gallery in Milevsko (2023), ProLuce (2022), Holešovice Šachta (2019), Fotograf Gallery (2017) and Jelení Gallery (2016). In 2023, he had a joint exhibition with Markus Guschelbauer at the House of the Lords of Kunštát in Brno, in 2018 with Velibor Božović at Gallery 17/18 in Ottawa, Canada, or a year earlier with Michal Kindernay at Off Format Gallery in Brno. He has completed several residencies abroad. In his work, he mainly uses photography, video, and performance. He is particularly interested in poetic reflection on nature and combining creative work with travels to distant cultures.
