TOMÁŠ FRKAL
Tomáš Frkal is a graduate of the FAMU Department of Cinematography. His roots are tied to skateboard culture. He works in feature films, documentaries, and animation, where he is interested in genre diversity and varied formal approaches. He has worked on television projects such as Michal Blaško’s “Případy 1. oddělení – 3. série” (Cases of the 1st Department – Series 3), Damián Vondrášek’s “Král Šumavy – Agent Chodec” (King of Šumava – Agent Chodec) and Tomáš Mašín’s two-part TV film “Vyhnání Gerty Schnirch” (The Expulsion of Gerta Schnirch). In the field of documentary filmmaking, he made his mark with his feature debut “Nová Šichta” by Jindřich Andrš. He has shot dozens of short films, the most successful of which at festivals are Eliška Kováříková and Adam Struhal’s “The Story of the Terrifying Eliz,” presented in the competition section at Camerimage, Greta Stocklasa’s “Buzz of the Earth,” and Daria Kashcheeva’s “Electra,” which premiered at Cannes. He is the winner of the Famufest cinematography award and received a special jury mention in the short film competition at the Kamera Oko festival.
