Jacek Petrycki

 

Jacek Petrycki is a cinematographer and producer of feature films, documentaries and television productions. He was born in 1948 in Poznan. He graduated from the Department of Cinematography at the Lodz Film School (1970). He made his debut in 1971 with the documentary Przed rajdem. As a cinematographer, he shot some of the most famous Polish documentaries of the 1970s together with directors Krzysztof Kieślowski and Marcel Łoziński. Since 1976, he has also devoted himself to fiction, in which he is inextricably linked with Polish cinema of moral turmoil. He is the recipient of the British Film Academy’s BAFTA Award for Betrayal (1996) and many foreign and Polish awards. In 2019 he became vice president of the Polish Association of Cameramen.
