DAVID HOFMANN
David is a graduate of the FAMU Department of Cinematography. His work focuses mainly on feature films. In 2024, he won the Vesna Award for cinematography from the Slovenian Film Academy for his first foreign-language feature film Blok 5, and was also nominated for the Czechia national award Český lev for cinematography in the film Mord. (directed by Adam Martinec) His short film One Hundred and Twenty-Eight Thousand (directed by Ondřej Erban) was selected for the Cinéfondation competition at the Cannes Film Festival and also won the award for best student film at the Czech Lions. In 2022, he made his debut with the film Grand Prix (directed by Jan Prušinovský) and collaborated on his first television series, Král Šumavy, directed by David Ondříček for the Voyo platform. In 2024, two of his feature films premiered at prestigious festivals – Blok 5 (directed by Klemen Dvornik) was screened at the Locarno International Film Festival. Mord (directed by Adam Martinec) received a special mention from the jury in the main competition at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival. He also collaborated on John Carpenter’s series Suburban Scream for the Peacock platform. David’s portfolio includes over a hundred commercials and music videos, and his work is often influenced by skateboarding and street culture.
