DENISA BURANOVÁ
Denisa Buranová is a Slovak cinematographer and filmmaker, a graduate of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, where she earned her ArtD. degree in the Department of Cinematography. She is currently in her third year as an assistant professor there. During her career, she has collaborated with leading Slovak and Czech directors, and her work has been presented at prestigious festivals such as Berlinale, Cannes, and Annecy. The film Caravan, in collaboration with Simona Weisslechnerová, was screened in the Un certain regard section at Cannes (2025). The film Tony, Shelly and the Magic Light (2023) won the Contrechamp Jury Prize at the Annecy Festival and also earned her the National Film Award for Cinematography. She received further awards for the film By a Sharp Knife (2019) and for her work on the film She’s a Harbour (2017), which won the Crystal Bear at the Berlinale. Denisa is actively involved in the creation of feature and documentary films, television projects, and commercials, and her work has been recognized at domestic and international festivals.
