LIGHTS OF SOUND x Adam Badí Donoval
What does a movie that no one has filmed sound like?
The musical evening at the @platoostrava City Gallery will be dedicated to abstract music, which, while not directly linked to visual art or film, will undoubtedly be evocative. The evening’s curator, Adam Badí Donoval, will introduce two artists—Ulla and Koruth—whose work and musical practice treat sound as something that can be shaped, stretched, and modulated in space and time. It will be an opportunity for deep listening, daydreaming, or relaxation.
Ulla
Ulla is one of the key figures in the so-called “bedroom ambient” genre and the contemporary post-ambient scene. In her music, melancholic ambient passages blend with elements of jazz, veiled vocals, and the cozy atmosphere of her own room. International media regularly feature her work. She releases music on respected labels such as West Mineral Ltd., 3XL, Motion Ward, and Quiet Time, and performs throughout Europe.
Koruth
Koruth is an experimental music project by visual artist Anna Ruth. During live performances, she layers her voice with the sound of flutes to create complex, monochromatic soundscapes. Her work straddles the line between narrative and abstraction: it evokes wordless ballads and carries a subtly mystical atmosphere that can also be sensed in her paintings. Following performances at the Lunchmeat festival and alongside musicians such as Václav Havel and Cate Le Bon, Koruth is now preparing her debut solo album.
