Work of Eye

Czech republic | 2014, 7 min. | authors: Barbora Kleinhamplová, Zbyněk Baladrán
The video is inspired by the research of J.E. Purkyně, a 19th century experimental scientist who was concerned with vision and its relationship to the experience of vertigo caused by rotational movements. In his experiments he employed, for example, a carousel and a swing. He included all visual illusions and delusions in the concept of vertigo. The vertigo and oppression felt by office workers in large corporations is a contemporary experience caused by the illusions and deceptions of a bureaucratized world. Can such an experience be visualized?
